RMMC Joins City Health Office in Strengthening Suicide Awareness and Mental Health Advocacy The City Health Office of General Santos spearheaded the Suicide Awareness Symposium at Veranza Mall, bringing together future healthcare professionals to address the growing mental health challenges in the Philippines. The event gathered nursing, midwifery, and pharmacy students from Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges (RMMC), underscoring the crucial role of awareness, early intervention, and compassionate care in promoting mental well-being. Aligned with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education), the symposium featured expert-led discussions and interactive learning sessions that deepened participantsโ understanding of mental health issues and their effects on individuals and communities. Students were introduced to inclusive and sensitive mental health practices, enhancing their ability to identify and respond effectively to mental health concerns. RMMCโs active participation reflected its ongoing commitment to shaping healthcare professionals who are not only technically proficient but also empathetic and socially responsible. Through initiatives like this, the institution continues to foster a culture of care, advocacy, and community collaboration. The symposium served as a platform to empower students to become advocates for mental health awarenessโbreaking stigma, promoting inclusion, and contributing to a more compassionate healthcare system.
